Under the Dome - An Evening With Gary Jules

Singer/songwriter Gary Jules returns to headline his second Under the Dome benefit concert.  Growing up in La Jolla, Gary visited SDMoM with his childhood friend and SDMoM CEO, Dr. Micah D. Parzen.  Gary went on to study anthropology at UCLA and has traveled extensively throughout the world.  Gary’s shared interest in SDMoM’s mission is found not only in his generosity of spirit, but also in a common thread throughout his many thought-provoking songs.

Gary has a solid and loyal fanbase and is best known for his haunting cover of Tears for Fears’ “Mad World”.  Several of his songs have also been featured on “Grey’s Anatomy.”  Gary has appeared on the The Jay Leno Show and Last Call with Carson Daly.  He has also been featured in Billboard, The Village Voice, Rolling Stone and on VH-1.  He has also shared the stage with Bob Dylan, Jack Johnson, Sheryl Crow, Beck, Jason Mraz, Liz Phair, and Todd Rundgren among others.

Zeke Piestrup of VH-1's show "Fresh" called Jules "The best American singer-songwriter to emerge out of the late '90's - and the only one worthy of being mentioned in the same sentence with Paul Simon, James Taylor, Cat Stevens and Nick Drake."

SDMoM’s Under the Dome benefit concert series artists whose music and message align with SDMoM’s mission.  This benefit concert series is another step in the direction of re-branding SDMoM as a place to gather to exchange new ideas, enjoy unique cultural events, provoke conversation and become a destination for tourists and local visitors alike.

Located beneath the ornate 200-foot California Tower, the SDMoM is the city's only museum devoted to anthropology.  With its Spanish colonial and mission style architecture, the landmark building was originally constructed for the 1915-16 Panama-California Exposition.  Today, a key focus of SDMoM is to create and display dynamic and educational anthropological exhibits about people and places throughout the Americas and around the world.  For more information about SDMoM, please visit www.museumofman.org.
